It was a very popular anime in the 90’s and was released in most countries. Sailor Moon is the anime most people think of when they hear “Magical Girl”. You can also add any gold-tone jewelry at your choice to match the necklace. This coord would be perfected by adding any white underskirt, or have a bit of petticoat peeking to simulate Sakura’s very floaty look. The necklace by Trinket Slot is meant to mimic the Star Wand which Sakura wears around her neck when she is not transformed. There are, however, a few items in this coord specifically made to resemble Cardcaptor Sakura. The bag, for example, mimics the Book of Clow from the anime, and was release by Super Groupies and CLAMP recently. The hat is Chess Story’s Cutie Ribbon Bow Wool Beret. With this coord, any white OTK’s would work, but I chose Angelic Pretty’s 9mm Lace OTK’s. The lace gloves are Angelic Pretty’s Crown Lace Gloves, which could be altered to look more like Sakura’s gloves by removing the white bows and replacing them with red bows. The shoes are Baby, The Stars Shine Bright’s Heart Shoes. The blouse is Angelic Pretty’s Fancy Blouse. The JSK is Angelic Pretty’s Fancy Shoulder Ribbon. However, a few of the items are specifically catered to Cardcaptor Sakura. Most of the items used in this coord are just regular lolita items that just happen to resemble Sakura’s red dress. That being said, it is a very cute coord and is fairly easy to translate into lolita. This particular costume is usually the one that people think of when they hear the phrase “Carcaptor Sakura”, even though it never appeared in the anime itself, and only in the first Opening sequence. This coord is based on one of Cardcaptor Sakura Kinomoto’s many costumes. Because she was the one who released them, she must also be the one to return them, with the help of some magic, a few friends, and a talking bear-like creature named Kero.ĬCS Coord by lolita-princess featuring a wool hat The plot is about a girl named Sakura Kinomoto who accidentally releases a series of mystical creatures who were trapped inside cards, called the Clow Cards. This show was a large part of my childhood and is dear to my heart. The show was broadcast in various countries, including the U.S., where it was named “Cardcaptors”. With that in mind, here are some Magical Girl-inspired lolita coords based on Magical Girls you know and love, and some you may not know.Ĭardcaptor Sakura is a manga by CLAMP that was adapted into a manga in the 90’s. I grew up watching magical girls like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura protect those around them, and I still enjoy and thrive on Magical Girls today. It serves as a very empowering movement for young girls – showing them that they are just as strong, if not stronger, than their male counterparts. Magical Girl has changed my life, and the lives of many others. The magical girl tends to flock – generally they are a team of several together, along with some sort of “guide” – which is often in the form of a magical talking animal. A magical girl is a normal girl who has the power to transform into someone slightly or completely different for a greater purpose, usually to fight off evil. The genre encompasses films, books, and live-action shows, but it mainly manifests in comics and anime. Magical Girl, or mahou shojo, is a genre close to my heart. A cute talking animal friend, and a kick-ass attack sequence.
